Alan Jenks Gould (January 30, 1898 – June 21, 1993) was a newspaper writer and editor. He was the sports editor of the Associated Press from 1922 to 1938 and the executive editor of the Associated Press from 1941 to 1963.
==Early years==
While still in high school, Gould was hired by Frank Gannett (founder of Gannett media corporation) as a part-time reporter for the ''Star Gazette'' in Elmira, New York. He also worked for a time at Gannett's ''Ithaca Journal''.〔Draft registration card for Alan Jenks Gould dated September 1918, reporter for the Ithaca Journal, date of birth January 30, 1898.
